The Combination System

Today I thought I would take a look at a system that was launched by Sportsworld Publishing. It is called the Combination System and is the brainchild of Steve Wood. This is system designed purely for the flat season and operates between May and December.

The system come on 5 sheets of A4 and includes some impressive monthly breakdowns for the previous 3 years. This shows only 6 losing months out of 24 and shows that to a £100 stake the profit you could have made was around £130,000.

The system is mind numbingly simple in the fact that you back 2 specific jockeys and one specific trainer in a certain type of race at certain racecourses. I suspect that this system has been developed using back fitting, a technique where you rely on past results and then develop a system to fit those results.

At Horse Racing System Review we have been testing the system since June and the results have not been very encouraging. Currently it is showing a 26 point loss. In fairness it would only take a couple of big winners to put the system into profit. However, I do not think that these back fitted systems really offer value for money.

Here are a couple of back fitted results that you might like to test. First at Kempton’s Aw track back any horse from stall 12 in a 5 furlong race with at least 10 runners. That has shown a good level stake profit. Another you could look at is any 3 to 5 year old trained by Mark Johnston in races of 1 mile up to 1 mile 6 furlong at Goodwood.
