The 1000 Points a Year System- A Review

Posted on March 1st, 2010 in 1000 Points A Year by admin

In my position I get literally hundreds of horse racing systems across my desk every year. Many after a quick read get put straight into file 13 (the waste bin) some get sent out to a colleague who runs paper tests for me and a few I think have real potential I keep to test myself. Such a one of these has been Mark Layton’s “1000 Point a Year System. “.

Mark was the creator of The Gamekeeper Turned Poacher System that was released a few months ago. Mark’s history in racing is along one, starting off at the age of 8 helping his father, a bookies runner and going on to an odds compiler and systems analyst for offshore bookmakers such as Ladbrooks. So in simple terms the guy knows what he is talking about.
The 1000 Points a Year is a backing system which is based on trainers and jockeys past performances at various courses. This seems to be a sensible and logical approach to find winners and if past results are to be judged a profitable one.
Based on past results, which is not always a reliable guide to future profitability this system has shown a £10,000 a year profit to £10 stakes over the last 3 years.
The past 3 years results are as follows:
2007 1277.67 points
2008 1224.41 points
2009 1277.67 points
Which would make a total profit over £357,000 to a £100 stake and around 100 points per month.
These are the kind of figures that you cannot ignore and as the system is being marketed by Sportsworld Publishers I have no reason to doubt their accuracy.
This year to date there have been 25 selections, the low number being mainly due to the poor weather and cancelled meetings. There have been 8 winners which has produced a profit of 24.54 points, not the greatest but given the conditions and how difficult January was for all punters quite acceptable.
Until the weather settles down it is difficult to do a meaningful paper test on any horse racing system but I shall be keeping a close eye on the 1000 Points a Year System.
At present I cannot give it an unconditional stamp of approval because it has not yet been possible to test it fully. But if the results live up to the claims then it could well be worth adding to any horse race punters portfolio of systems.
