To bet on the races, does one need to have an understanding of the horse racing system?

Posted on January 30th, 2009 in 4 by admin

Not for definite but it would be wise to have an understanding of exactly what you are following and why. You can of course just follow someone blindly and probably pay for it, but why do this when it only takes a moment to understand.

If you search on the web for horse racing systems you will find plenty of sources that are free and will take you step by step through the process of building a system. Others will simply want to take money off you.

So as in any other walk of life, nothing is easy, you have to put in a bit of work if you want to make a go of it.

Horse Racing Systems- The Snare- A Review

Posted on January 26th, 2009 in the snare by admin

Sports World Publications have just launched a new horse racing system they have named “The Snare”. It has been developed by Terry Sparkes who has been responsible for several successful systems in the past.

It makes a welcome change to have a good system which concentrates on finding winners rather than laying losers. It is true that there are some good laying systems that can make regular profits but each successful bet can only give a return of evens, less the Betfair commission. Successfully picking winners gives a much better return Although finding the winner of a race is far harder than selecting losers.

In “The Snare”, Sparkes uses a “Dutching System” which involves betting on more than one horse in each race to find the winner. The system finds good priced winners when the low priced favourites fail to win. The selection process only involves the first four races of the day, often only one of those four  races will meet the criteria and provide a bet.

I have not “paper tested” this system myself but am relying on the past results posted by Sports World Publishing. As one of the more reliable of the companies specialising in horse racing systems I have no trouble in accepting their proof. Since the 1st October 2008 using a  level stake of £50 the system has generated a profit of £17,500.

This involved 119 bets of which 79 were successful giving a return of £25,804 and 40 losing bets which lost £8,210 producing an overall profit of £17,594. The biggest priced winner during the test period was priced at 42/1 which is impressive as I can’t remember the last time I had a winner priced at over 40/1.

Because you are only looking at four specific races a day it does not take very long to make your selection which can be done well before racing starts. I can see no reason why “The Snare” should not work for other than the first four races of the day but this is something that could be tested later.

There will be occasions when the market will have an inadequate liquidity for a particular horse. In this case you may have to place your bets with a bookmaker. Because of Terry Sparkes reputation many punters will be eager to try “The Snare” given the  large amounts wagered on Betfair for each race it should not normally affect the price of the selections.

. However, I do have some reservations about diving in and using the suggested staking level of £50 a bet from the beginning. For this level of staking you would need a starting bank of between £2,500- £5,000. A far more sensible approach would be to begin with a level stake of £5 a bet. For this you would only need a bank of around £250- £500 to get going. Providing the system works as expected you could then increase your level stake as your bank rises.

The publishers claim that “The Snare” is an ideal system to use with a Betting Bot, a software program designed to automate your betting. If you are a fan of auto systems such as “The Grey Horse Bot” then this might be a system that will interest you.  As with most of the other Sportsworld products they and Terry Sparkes are offering an email support service for all purchasers of “The Snare”.

Anybody recomend any horse racing betting systems that have a good strike rate??

Posted on January 21st, 2009 in Horse Racing System Questions by admin

yep, have a bet on the first race of the chosen meeting, say a pound on the favourite of the first race, now if that favourite wins, just pick up your winnings and leave that meeting alone, if the favourite loses then double your bet on the favourite of the next race, again, if it wins then pick up your winnings and leave the meeting alone, if it loses then double your bet again and put it on the favourite of the next race and so on, you will not lose, have a look at the results for all meetings, it is very rare indeed that at least one favourite doesn’t win at least one race, well it’s a sure fire winner, try it and see. Good luck.

From Horse Racing Systems Review

The above is an interesting but I believe misguided answer. If you go to a meeting with 6 races and the favourites lose the first 5 races your betting would be:P

1st Race  £1    2nd Race £2   3rd race  £4 4th race £8  5th Race £16

On th 6th race you would have to stake £32.. If the last favourite is odds on you may not even make a profit on the day. My advis eis to avoid any system that involves doubling up.

Is there someone out there that is good in excel that is interested in horse racing system?

Posted on January 19th, 2009 in Horse Racing System Questions by admin

I am looking for a serious person that likes to gamble that is somewhat familiar with Stats and Excel that is willing to create a Trifecta System. I’ve had modest success and need to create a program to test my theories. Serious inquires only.

I am very good at Excel. Check out some of my past answers if you like. I have also bet sometimes on the doggies back in early 90′s when I lived in Wichita Kansas. Haven’t bet on races since. I bet on a few horse races over the years but financials don’t really allow it any more! Anyway, I’m ready for a challenge. Email me. Regards, QwertyKPH

Prize Lays Horse Racing System –A review

Posted on January 19th, 2009 in Prize Lays by admin

This system is different in origin from most that I have come across. It is the result of a competition run by The Racing Investors Club. Since its launch 3 years ago the  Club has been running a monthly competition to find profitable racing systems created by their members.

They offered a £1000 prize for any member whose system showed a profit for 4 consecutive months. To date the only winner of the prize has been a guy called Eddie McLung whose winning system is called appropriately Prize Lays. The evidence that this system works is that it has been proofed by the Racing Investor Clubs members.

Eddie has been using his system for the last 18 months and in that there have only been 2 months  in which failed to show a profit. Overall to a level stake of £100 it has shown a profit to date of £27,000. Eddie calculates that the system generates an average of 84-85% success rate with November 2008 ending as high as 90%. With proofed figures like that you really do need to take a look at Prize Lays.

The basic system involves laying Racing Post favourites to lose and applies to all forms of racing in the UK and Ireland. Having found the Racing Post favourite you then apply a series of filters to see if that horse meets the system criteria. As the Racing Post website publishes details of the next days racing at about 9 in the evening UK time it is possible to find your selections the night before if you wish. Dependent upon the amount of racing it take between 30-45 minutes to go through the cards to

find your selection.

A couple of the filters involve trainer and jockeys statistics and I found that by producing a chart of the main trainers and jockeys with their percentage wins could speed up the selection process. Like most systems the more familiar you become with it the easier it is to apply.

The proof of any system is how effective it is and what is its potential for making long term profits. I would give this system a big yes on both counts. The past results, well proofed by the Racing Investors Club show how consistent the Prize Lays Systems is there is no reason why it should not remain so.

Integral in the system are rules about the price of the lay bets, 7/1 being the maximum and Eddie says that to date the average price of his losing bets has been 5.45 (9/2). If you do the sums you will see this is not a system that is going to make you rich overnight but all things being equal it should continue to show you a steady and consistent profit.

I have to confess this is the type of horse racing system that I like. It is proven, does not require huge risk or investment and you do not have sit hunched over your computer while racing is on. It is ideal for those people who have to be doing other things, like work, during racing.

I shall be adding it to my portfolio of horse racing systems and I suggest that you consider doing the same.

does anyone know of any horse racing systems or betting theories that workl long term?

Posted on January 17th, 2009 in Horse Racing System Questions by admin

I actually work for a horseacing info service and I can tell you honestly not to waste your money on get rich quick systems. Horseracing is a matter of educated guessing combined with luck, no one has a crystal ball no matter what they try to tell you. My advice is to go to a book store and pick up a good handicapping book and learn the fundamentals yourself. Tom Ainslie wrote a good one, it is older but is filled with basic fundamentals that hold true today. I give my expert picks on a daily basis and while I am pretty good at it and can give 75% winners on a daily basis (based on my best 3 picks per race), I am never 100%. Don’t waste money on these schemes you see, get some education.

The above response is interesting nd I agree with th comment to avoid get rich quick systems. The only people who get rich with these are the people who sell them. However, I do believe that it is possible to develop winning horse racing systems. Most of the successful systems that I have encountered are based not on form ( something which is notoriously unreliable) but statistics.

is there any good horse racing systems out there please?

Posted on January 13th, 2009 in Horse Racing System Questions by admin

At the moment I would recommend that you take a look at the Dodgy Favourites review

on this web site. This has been sucessful for me. To get a better knowledge I would also

recomend False Favourites which is not so much a system as a definative guide for any interested

in making money from horse racing. At less than £20 it is also excellent value.
